THERE was a fantastic turnout at the weekend for now annual and extremely popular Highland Radio sponsored Teams of 4 Scramble.

Scoring again was tight and it was always going to take something special to break clear of the pack and the team of Carlo McLaughlin (15) Brendan Callaghan (16) Eamon Doherty (18) and Kevin Monaghan did indeed produce that special round.

Hitting seven birdies and 11 pars along with their 11 shots the guys scored a fantastic (-18) 54 points to finish two points clear of the chasing pack back on 52 points.

This pack was headed by the team of Tony Hegarty (8) Kevin McGrath (12) Gerard Gallagher (16) and Liam Henderson (21) who took the second prize on a BOT helped  with their special back 9 total of 28 points, which included six birdies.

The best day prize went to the team of Caolan McLaughlin (8) Shane Devlin (10) Jonny Doherty (10) & Darren McFadden (19) with 52 points (Saturday)

Ciaran Doherty Wins the Pat Doherty Aghilly Truck Repairs Open Stroke

THERE was a good turn out on Thursday for the mid-week Open Stroke competition after a bit of a washout on Wednesday.

Ciaran Doherty (23) played some of his best golf ever to record a fantastic 59 nett in what can only be described as tough windy conditions.

Ciaran had a fantastic front 9 of just 27 nett which he backed up well, with a fine 32 nett on the back 9 and finished one shot ahead of his nearest rival Jonny Morrison.

Jonny (7) had a superb score of 60 nett and was unfortunate not to take first prize.

The gross was won by David McGeough (4) with a 69. Third place went to Gerard Gallagher (17) with a 62nett and David McGinley (8) was the Back 9 winner with 31nett on a BOT. Full Results as follows: 1st Ciaran Doherty (23) 59nett. 2nd Jonny Morrison (7) 60nett. Gross David McGeough (4) 69. 3rd Gerard Gallagher (17) 62nett. Back 9 David McGinley (8) 31nett BOT. C.S.S. 65
