SOMMER LECKY finished eighth in the high jump final at the European Youth Athletics Championships this afternoon.
The Finn Valley woman reached a best of 1.70m today, but wasn’t enough to get a place on the podium.
The Castlederg native had cruised to the final, clearing a comfortable 1.78m, a height that would have bagged a bronze medal today.
However, Maja Nilsson from Sweden took gold with a p.b of 1.82m, Lithuania’s Urte Baikstyte won silver with a 1.79m leap and Déspina Maltabé from Greece’s 1.75m was enough for bronze.
Lecky cleared 1.65m and 1.70m, but knocked the bar at 1.75m .
