World U20 silver medallist Sommer Lecky returns to action swiftly as the Finn Valley AC woman competes in the Morton Games this evening.

Lecky, who won a World U20 silver medal in Finland on Sunday, will line up at the Morton Games in Santry.

The Castlederg native cleared 1.90m to claim the silver medal. It was a new personal best and a new Irish Junior record all in one, while also securing European Championship qualification in the process.

Lecky was beaten only by Karyna Taranda from Belarus won gold with a leap of 1.92m with the Finn Valley ace just missing out on a similar clearance.

It was an excellent Championships for Lecky, who had a flawless display in qualification.

This evening, Lecky will be up against the likes of Alyxandria Treasure from Canada and USA athlete Liz Patterson, who have PBs of 1.94m.

With just two weeks until the European Championships, Mark English returns to the track in the men’s 800m.

The Letterkenny man, who has been in training in Spain until very recently, has had a quiet summer so far, but the UCD AC runner will go under starter’s orders at Santry, where he faces competition fro Boris Berian, Michael Rimmer and Ryan Gregson.
