Shaun McShane will make his return to the ring on June 30 in Glasgow and the Lettermacaward man is hoping to get three fights before the end of 2017.
McShane hasn’t fought since being beaten to the Scottish super-lightweight title by Eddie Doyle.
In a re-match from earlier in the year – when Doyle also took the win – McShane was beaten on points at the Alona Hotel, Motherwell.
McShane dropped his pro record to 4-4-1 with that loss, but has now confirmed his return for the end of the month.
“I’m eight months out now, but the rest done me good,” McShane said.
“It’ll be a short camp for me, but I’ve been putting in the hard work. I’m going to Glasgow to finish off the camp and I hope to have three fights at least before the end of the year.”
McShane will fight an as yet unnamed opponent on the Prospect Boxing card at the Knights of St Columba Social Club.
McShane has a new sponsor in the form of The Limelight, Glenties. He aims to get another shot at a title at some stage, too, with a Celtic Nations title a possibility.
McShane took an extended break as his new baby, Riley, was sick for five months.
“I put everything on hold,” he said.
“I’m hoping now to get a title crack again. The sponsorship has helped a lot and I’m looking forward to it now.”
