Shaun McShane outlines title hopes and homecoming aim after latest win

Shaun McShane is aiming for an Irish homecoming bout in 2018 after extending his pro record to 6-4-1 last night.

The Lettermacaward light-welterweight defeated James Gorman on points after six rounds at The Knights of St Columba Social Club in Moodiesburn, Scotland.

McShane hadn’t fought since a points win over Alec Bazza at the same venue in June.

But he was an impressive winner last night.

“It was a good win for me,” McShane said.

“There was a big weight difference – he was 11lb heavier – and I could feel it. I wanted the fight and it was good to get the cobwebs shook off.

“I hope to be out soon, hopefully in March, again. I want to stay busy this year now that I’m back at it.”

McShane is a late comer to the pro ranks, but has his sights set on a bout in Ireland.

He twice lost to Eddie Doyle for the Scottish super-lightweight title.

He said: “I’d like to get into title contention again. I want to get a fight back home too. I know people would love to come to support me in a fight.”
