Audio: Shane McGowan of Bundoran says ‘Division One is where you want to be’

NOT LONG SHORT of 12 calendar months have passed since Bundoran got their preparations underway for the 2015 season.

Today, just five days before Christmas, they finally completed their campaign having achieved what captain Shane McGowan (pictured above with son Bradlee) described as what they set up to do from day one.

Their promotion to Division One of the All-County Football League was achieved by means of a 0-10 to 1-5 win over Four Masters in the promotion-relegation play-off in Ballyshannon. It will supplement their victory in the Intermediate Championship from last month.

“We set out at the start of the year to get promoted,” McGowan said. “We knew it was going to be a battle. They have a lot of experience there and we knew if we stuck with it we’d have a chance. We’ve no star players but we work well together as a team. Division One is where you want to be.”
