ST JOHNSTON NATIVE Shane McGinty has tonight signed for Irish League Premier Division side Ballinamallard United.

The 22-year-old nephew of former Finn Harps player Maurice Toland is the first signing of new manager Gavin Dykes, who was assistant manager at Finn Harps this season under Ollie Horgan.

McGinty was also formerly with Harps, Coleraine and Galay United and worked with Dykes at Sligo Rovers.

Whilst at Institute last season, McGinty played against Ballinamallard in the end of season promotion-relegation play-off and scored at Ferney Park in a 3-3 second leg draw to bring his tally for the season to over 20 goals. Co Fermanangh outfit Ballinamallard had won the first leg 2-1 at the Riverside.

Two hat-tricks in February gave McGinty the Championship Player of the Month award.
