Second-half surge sees Naomh Colmcille win at Fanad

NAOMH COLMCILLE staged a big second-half come back to overcome Gaeil Fhánada in Group B of the Donegal Intermediate Championship.

Gaeil Fhánada 1-5 Naomh Colmcille 2-10

Michael Sweeney’s goal in the 22nd minute helped Gaeil Fhánada to a 1-3 to 0-5 half-time lead.

Mark McAteer, Shaun Kerr and Bernard McGettigan also hit points for the hosts.

With Daniel Clarke (pictured) on form, Naomh Colmcille stayed in touch.

Brian McVeigh put Gaeil Fhánada two up four minutes into the second half, but when Naomh Colmcille hit two goals in a minute the tide had turned.

Clarke riffled home on 37 minutes to put Naomh Colmcille in front and young PJ McBrearty bagged a second just a minute later to put five between them.

Clarke, McBrearty, William Lynch and Matthew Crossan added points as Naomh Colmcille claimed a priceless away win.
