SEAN MacCumhaills gave themselves a big chance of avoiding a relegation play-off in Division 2 with a comprehensive 4-17 to 0-12 win over St Naul’s at Sean MacCumhaill Park.

The bulk of the damage was done in the opening half when they Twin Towns side roared into a 3-6 to 0-09 lead.

Their opening goal came after only three minutes as Martin O’Reilly netted after good work from Brian Lafferty.

Steven O’Reilly laid the second goal on for Gerard Grindle, who finished from close range.

Lafferty, who was on the Donegal Sport Hub Team of the Week from last weekend’s Championship action, was causing no end of trouble for the St Naul’s rearguard and he was fouled for a penalty.

Martin O’Reilly’s kick was saved by Gavin Mulreaney, but the Donegal player rammed in from the rebound.

Steven O’Reilly was on hand for the fourth goal in the second half as he palmed home after latching onto a pass from his brother.

Bundoran keep the pressure on Termon at the top of the pile as Jamie Brennan’s goal secured a big win over Glenfin.

Brennan scored 1-5 for the south Donegal side, who are just two points off Termon.

For Glenfin, though, defeat spells big trouble. With Conor Ward having suffered a cruciate injury last weekend and Gerard Ward also pulling up, the An Gaeltacht Lár team are rooted to the bottom and are now entering ‘must win’ territory.

John Fitzgerald’s first-half goal ensured that Cloughaneely held on for dear life as Killybegs came on strong in the second half, with John Paul Gallagher’s team winning 1-6 to 0-8.
