DAMIAN DEVANEY has been appointed as the new manager of the Sean MacCumhaills senior football team.

Devaney was formally appointed by the Twin Towns club this evening.

Devaney was born in Monaghan, but has been living in Stranorlar for the best part of the last two decades.

In 2015, Devaney managed the Na Rossa seniors, having been heavily involved with MacCumhaills at underage level previously and has represented the club as a player.

While Na Rossa were keen to hold onto his services, MacCumhaills have confirmed that he will succeed Brendan Dunleavy, who was in charge for the last three years.

A MacCumhaills statement read: “CLG Seán Mac Cumhaills are delighted to announce that Damian Devaney has been appointed our Senior Football manager for 2016.

“We wish Damian and his backroom team the best of luck for the coming year. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Brendan Dunleavy, Barney Lafferty, Mickey McMahon, Seamus Lynch and Darren Collins for all their hard work over the last couple of years.”

Devaney will confirm his backroom team in the coming weeks.
