SEAMUS COLEMAN IS wearing the captain’s armband for Everton for the first time tonight in the EFL Cup against Norwich City.

Coleman has skippered the Republic of Ireland in their last three competitive internationals – the 1-0 win over Italy in Lille, the 2-1 reversal against France in Lyon in Euro 2016, as well as the 2-2 draw in their opening World Cup 2018 qualifier against Serbia two weeks ago in Belgrade.

Everton have made an excellent start to the Premier League, winning their last four encounters to move into second place behind Manchester City, with Coleman scoring in the most recent of those victories – a 3-1 success over Middlesbrough on Saturday evening at Goodison Park.

Manager Ronald Koeman has made six changes to the team from that victory, with Coleman taking over the captaincy from Phil Jagielka. Coleman’s Irish teammate Robbie Brady is in midfield for Norwich.
