DONEGAL manager Declan Bonner has described as ‘nonsense’ suggestions that his side are the prime candidates to derail Dublin’s five-in-a-row bid.
Donegal soared to the Ulster title with routine wins over Fermanagh, Tyrone and Cavan.
The Tir Chonaill men scored a combined 2-55 across their three games and many believe them to be serious Sam Maguire contenders.
“A lot of guys are talking about Donegal being the serious challengers,” Bonner acknowledged.
“We’re not listening to that nonsense to be quite honest.
“We’re still far from the finished article and we have work to do.
“That is out of our control and all we can do is control what is within our group and that is all that we are doing.
“That is out there social media and in the press.
“That to me is just nonsense. We have to get ready for what we have to do.”
With the exception of long-term injury victim Kieran Gillespie’s Bonner has a full panel to select from.
Eoin McHugh has recovered from the knock that sidelined him from the Ulster final and Caolan McGonagle is also back at full fitness.
Bonner said: “Everyone is in good form.
“We were back in training the Wednesday after the Ulster final and it was all about getting ready for the first Super 8 game.
“Our target from now is to get to the last four.”
