Sam and Chloe Magee move into last 16 at Scottish Open

Sam and Chloe Magee are into the last 16 of the mixed doubles at the Scottish Open Grand Prix.

The Raphoe brother and sister duo defeated Scottish pair Alexander Dunn and Eleanor O’Donnell this morning in Glasgow.

Dunn and O’Donnell were European Junior silver medal winners, but the in-form Magees were victorious in just over half-an-hour.

The Magees won 21-15, 21-14.

Yesterday, Rachael Darragh and Reynolds overcame Mark Law and Gemma Whiting 21-14 21-13 and another English pair Nathan Rossiter and Emily Robinson in qualifiers.

Darragh will also compete in the women’s singles thanks to a qualifying wins over Cristen Elizabeth Marritt, 21-9 21-13, and Evie Burbidge, 21-12 21-10.

In the first round of the men’s singles, Joshua Magee was beaten 21-10 21-17 by Finland’s Jacob Nilsson.

In the men’s doubles, Joshua and Sam Magee face Ben Lane and Sean Vendy this evening while Darragh teams up with Sara Boyle to take on Jessica Hopton and Lizzie Tolman in the women’s doubles.
