The All Ireland Senior Championships took place last weekend in Santry, Dublin and Rosses AC had one representative – it was another superb performance from Fodhla McFadden.

Fodhla, competing in the senior women’s triple jump produced another personal best jump of 11.33m which catapulted her into a very respectable 4th place finish overall.

A huge achievement for the youngest competitor in the field. This ends the track & field season for Fodhla which saw her winning a total of 4 All Ireland medals in 2017 as well as a senior Irish Schools medal. Well done Fodhla from Rosses AC, a great year.

Special word of thanks to Helen at Smart Moves Physical Therapy and Ben at Atlantic Strength & Fitness for all their assistance over the past year.

Congratulations and well done to so many of the Rosses AC club members who did the MAD adventure race last Saturday. Tough course but everybody was equal for it!

No prizes for the men but the ladies did come home with some silverware with Noreen McGee, Anne Harkin and Cathy Breslin all get placing in their sections – well done.

In the Churchill 5K last Friday night there was another great evenings racing for some of the Rosses athletes with Finlay Marshall flying into 3rd place overall and collecting first junior prize with another class time of 16.42.

There were also top 10 finishes for 7th placed Charlie Postie O Donnell with a time of 17.38 & 8th placed Niall Gallagher with a cracking time of 18.08. Gavin Ward showed a steady return to form with 18.39, while Manus McHugh was on his heels with 18.42.

Paul McKelvey edged closer to that 18 minute window with a superb 19.09. Patrick Trimble had another great time of 19.52.

Denis Boyle got a PB of 20.35 as did Declan Gallagher with a huge PB of 21.17. In what was Lee Gallagher’s first race back in a while, he ran a fantastic time of 23.21.

Training continues in Dungloe on Monday and Wednesdays at 8:15pm and in Gweedore on Tuesday and Thursday at 7pm – all welcome.

Most people are targeting the Danny McDaid 15k this Sunday at the Aura in Letterkenny with the Dungloe 5k next Tuesday evening also.
