Ronan McClafferty wins combined charity Open at Letterkenny Golf Club

A sum of €1,500 was raised for Letterkenny University Hospital’s Brest Care Cancer Unit the week before last.

The event was an Open staged jointly by Letterkenny Golf Club and the Silver Tassie.

Expressing a sincere thank-you to everyone involved in last week’s annual charity golf event for the Breast Care Cancer Care Unit held at Letterkenny Golf Club, the management of sponsors Silver Tasie Hotel gave a special thank-you to all of those involved in playing, those who attended the prizegiving and all those who contributed in any way to help make this charity event an annual success.

Prizewinners were as follows:
1st: Ronan McClaffery – 2 Nights BB\Dinner & Green Fees at the Slieve Russell Hotel & Country Club

2nd: Eddie Margey – Overnight stay with green fees in Ashford Castle

3rd: Eamon McGlinchey – Golf Break at Westgrove Hotel

Gents Best Drive Winner: Eugene O’Donnell
Ladies Best Drive Winner: Celine Bradley
Gents Nearest Pin Winner: Michael McElhinney
Ladies Nearest Pin Winner:Marion O Sullivan

The Silver Tassie Hotel sponsored annual charity Breast Care Unit Singles Open took place recently at Letterkenny Golf Club and the delighted winner was Ronan Mc Clafferty [12] who, with 20pts on each nine which included a birdie at 12th, required a countback following his double bogey at 18th to relegate the in-form Eddie Margey [11] to runner-up spot.

Eddie had 19pts on back nine while third place went to Eamonn Mc Glinchey [6] whose one over par gross front nine of 20pts included an eagle three at the par five 7th, birdies at 8th and 14th and a double bogey at 17th [Aughaninshin].

The ‘longest drive’ gents went to Ulster Cup stalwart Eugene O’Donnell at 17th whilst the ‘nearest the pin’ prize was collected by Michael Mc Elhinney for his near hole-out at 16th and the ladies’ longest drive was Celine Bradley while ‘nearest the pin’ was Marion O’ Sullivan.

Letterkenny Golf Club would like to take this opportunity once again to thank Kieran and Rose, proprietors Silver Tassie Hotel and also to Martina Rafferty, Sales & Marketing Manager who organized the event so succesfully.
