RED HUGHES SCORED A big win over east Donegal neighbours Naomh Padraig last night at Monellan to advance to the quarter-finals of the Junior A Championship.

Red Hughs 2-22 Naomh Padraig (Lifford) 1-6

Seosamh Mac Ceallabhuí’s men were in total control and were 1-10 to 0-3 ahead by the break.

The writing was on the wall for the Lifford man as early as the third minute when Damien Browne – the game’s top marksman with 1-16 – netted after taking a pass from PJ Gallagher.

Odhrán Doherty Doherty, Gerard Melaugh, Colm Melaugh, James Carlin and Browne landed points and it was the 20th minute before Darren Gillespie posted the first Naomh Padraig score.

Keenan Gallagher and Donal Grant hit points but Red Hughs were on their way to the win by the break.
