Raphoe earn a big home point against title hopefuls Kilkeel

Raphoe earned a credible and battling home point against Kilkeel on Saturday at the Royal and Prior School grounds.

Raphoe faced tough opposition at home to Killkeel as they look to get some points on the board.
Raphoe started the match well having most of the possession and creating a few early chances which fell to the Raphoe strike partnership of Jonny Long  and Tommy Orr.

After a few early scares Killkeel got a foot hold in the game and the Raphoe goal was living a charmed life.
Raphoe’s No1. David Moore was frustrating the Kilkeel forwards pulling of a number of fine saves to keep the Donegal team in the game in the first half.
Raphoe got the second half of to a flyer with a quick counter attack after Mark Rutherford won a free for his team.
Alan Meehan quickly moved the ball to Adrian Crumley who came off his wing to beat one defender before slipping a pass into young Tommy Orr who calmly slotted it under an onrushing keeper.
Raphoe had a few chances on the counter as Kilkeel pushed for a leveler, but the Kilkeel defence pulled of a few last minute tackles to keep the score at 1-0.
Kilkeel got back into the game after some individual skill from David Rae, who won his team a short corner that Jonny Aiken converted with a fine strike from the edge of the circle.
Kilkeel were reduced to 10 men when their goal scorer Jonny Aiken saw green for a late tackle on Raphoe’s Tom Eaton.
Raphoe dug deep to ensure that they got some kind of reward for the teams effort and were happy to get a point against a team that will be pushing for the Premier league title.
Raphoe travel to Instonions on Saturday the 4th November with a 1pm push back.
