Rachael Darragh and Sinead Chambers were beaten by Malaysian duo Soniia Cheah and Jemie Shevon Lai in the Commonwealth Games this morning.

At the Carrara Sports Arena, Raphoe’s Darragh and Chambers teamed up for the women’s doubles last 16.

But the highly-rated Malaysians took the win 21-19 21-7.

In the first game, Darragh and Chambers gave as good as they got, but Cheah and Lai took first blood before claiming the second game to win the match.

Earlier in the week, Darragh and Chambers beat Elise Dixon and Emily Temple Redshaw 21-9 21-10 in the round of 32.

Darragh had met Cheah in the women’s singles and was also beaten yesterday as the Raphoe woman’s Commonwealth bid ends on the Gold Coast.
