IRON BOXING GYM’S Julian Ramirez will have Irish boxing legend Wayne Pocket Rocket McCullough in his corner after the 22-year-old’s link-up with the former WBO bantamweight champion was confirmed.

Featherweight Ramirez is 16-0 with eight knockout wins. Ramirez trains in Iron Boxing Gym in Santa Monica, the gym of Sheer Sports Management which looks after Jason Quigley, and is managed by Joel De La Hoya.

Quigley and Ramirez train regularly at Iron Boxing – who sponsor the rising southpaw – and just last week a group from Donegal paid a visit to the Santa Monica base and met with Ramirez.

Ramirez’s PR work is being done by Rachel Charles, who also has Quigley under her wing. Charles worked closely with 1992 Olympic silver medallist McCullough from his 2005 bout with Oscar Larios in California.

“Having him train Julian is going to be amazing,” Charles told Donegal Sport Hub.

“I can’t wait to see the results of Julian under a guy such as Wayne who came out of Eddie Futch’s gym. Also being a two-time Olympian and a World Champion doesn’t hurt either!”
