Portsaleon Golf Club – Strabane provide the opposition in Junior Cup final

The first leg of the Junior Cup  final was staged at Portsalon Golf Club on Sunday last. Under the guidance of of head greenkeeper John Shields Portsalon entertained Strabane Golf Club.

The home team played some excellent golf and came away with six matches to Strabane’s one match. The return leg is scheduled for Strabane on Saturday 17th October with a 1 p.m tee time.

Mulroy Links

The next  outing of the Mulroy Winter Links will be  staged at  Rosapenna Golf Resort   on Saturday 10th October . Members please note that you have to book your tee time prior to each round. If for any reason you cannot play please contact Rosapenna Golf Resort  this will enable others to participate. The success of the competition will be down to the Mulroy Links members.

Placing

Members and visitors should note that 6 inch placing on fairways only has been introduced .

Results

The winner of the open competition staged on Wednesday 30th September  was  Odhran McGowan (12) Portsalon  41 points Runner Up: Sam Faulkner (11)  Portsalon 38 points Gross: Eamonn McDermott (4) Portsalon  33 points Third: Conor McFadden (7) Portsalon 35 points The C.S.S.  was 34 points.  On Friday 2nd the inagural Portsalons Seniors open was staged and the winner was Paddy Sheridan (8) Portsalon 37 points. The CSS was 34 points. On Saturday 3rd the winner of the open competition was Kevin Boyce (12) Portsalon 41 points, runner up Giles Kilpatrick (18) Portsalon 40 points. On Sunday 4th the winner of the members competition was Joe Harkin (20) 42 points, runner up Paddy Mc Groarty (11) 40 points, gross Eamon mc Dermott (3) 34 points 3rd Dave Hughes (18) 39 points.. The CSS was 37 points

Events

Friday 9th October Seniors open members  visitors €10. Saturday 10th October  open stableford competition, Sunday  11th members competition , Wednesday 14th  open stableford competition. A time sheet is in operation for all competitions contact 0749159459 or go online to portsalongolfclub.com.

Special Draw

The Portsalon Golf Clubs members draw continues.  How to enter, it’s easy just €10 per month entries can be made at either the Portsalon Golf Shop or at the Portsalon Golf Clubhouse bar.  There is no commitment to pay/play each month as the income each month will be divided equally between the fund prize and the club. Prizes on offer will depend on the amount of cash in the fund monthly basis.

The draw will take place on the last Saturday of each month so why not have a go. If you require any further details contact John Strain or Dermot Boyce or any committee member.  Congratulations to last month’s winners 1st Henry Callaghan €130, 2nd Conal Drislane €80, 3rd Sarah Nicholl  €40, 4th Pat O’Neill  €20.

Gaeltacht League

The winter months are fast approaching and it is time again to set up for the Gaeltacht League. Martin Blaney has been appointed as Team captain for the 2015/16 season.

The interclub matches will have the same format as previous years. Portsalons first outing will take place at Portssalon where we will host Gweedore Golf Club on Saturday 17th October.
