THERE WERE A number of impressive showings for Donegal in yesterday’s 1-14 to 1-12 win over Mayo in Ballybofey.

We’ve chizzled the shortlist of contenders for man of the match down to three.

Broadcasters TG4 gave the award to Paddy McGrath (pictured above, all photos by Geraldine Diver), with the Ardara corner-back watertight in defence as well as joining the attack frequently with a number of galloping runs.

Ryan McHugh v Mayo

Ryan McHugh also had a fine game and the Kilcar native scored two wonderful points either side of half-time and was a driving force for Donegal when in possession.

O'Gorman and Cunningham

Rory Kavanagh

In his first start in almost 18 minutes, you’d have been forgiven for ever thinking that Rory Kavanagh was away anywhere. The St Eunan’s midfielder kicked a point and set-up Leo McLoone for the vital goal.
