It’s been a busy and successful week of action across the sporting spectre in Donegal – and it’s time to select the next Donegal Daily/Donegal Sport Hub Sports Person of the Week, in association with O’Reilly’s sportswear.
On-song jockey Dylan Browne-McMonagle from Letterkenny was the first winner last week.
Each weekly award winner will receive a kitbag, a jersey and a half-zip, supplied by O’Reilly’s.
The award winner will be chosen via a public vote from a shortlist selected by our panel.
O’Reilly’s sportswear was founded in 2017 by well-known Twin Towns sporting brothers Steven and Martin O’Reilly.

Jack Alcorn (Termon)
When the pressure cooker’s gas was ramped up, Jack Alcorn kept his cool for Termon.
Alcorn was the hero of the hour as the Burn Road team defeated Gaoth Dobhair in Friday evening’s U16 Championship final in Milford.
Just moments earlier, Alcorn levelled the tie and it seemed destined for extra time.
That was, however, until Alcorn – the son of Termon manager Trevor Alcorn – came up with the golden kick.
Termon went in search of a winner and, after a patient exchange, Alcorn was the man who did the trick to win the night.
Jamie Browne (Finn Harps U19s)
Finn Harps advanced to the quarter-finals of the U19 Enda McGuill Cup last Tuesday after a 3-1 win over Derry City. Jamie Browne scored a hat-trick for Joe Boyle’s team in a memorable derby win.
Browne has been in excellent form for the Harps young guns and the treble against the Candystripes was a fine way to mark the big occasion.
Oisin Kelly (Cranford AC)
Donegal athletes had great success at the weekend in the Irish Life Health Juvenile Championships in Tullamore.
Oisin Kelly of Cranford AC continued his meteoric rise as he claimed gold in the boys U15 800m race.
Kelly came good towards the finish to see off Waterford’s Aidan Burke and Greystones’ Jack McGlone. Kelly won in 2 minutes and 6.51 seconds.
Sommer Lecky (Finn Valley AC)
What a weekend for Sommer Lecky, who won a World silver medal on Sunday. At the IAAF World U20 Championships in Finland, Lecky twice broke her own person best in the women’s high jump.
After a flawless day on Friday to comfortably book her spot in the final, Lecky delivered again on the big stage. A successful 1.90m leap in the final saw her claim the silver medal, set a new Irish Junior record and qualify for the European Championships.
Jason McDaid (St Mary’s, Convoy)
St Mary’s of Convoy won the U16 Division 2 Championship final on Friday evening and Jason McDaid was on fire.
McDaid posted a wonderful 3-4 as St Mary’s defeated Downings 7-7 to 2-11.
McDaid netted the first of his goals in the opening half and added two more at the break to seal the silverware for the Oliver Prunty-managed side.
Siobhan Sweeney (Bonagee United ladies)
Bonagee United went to the top of the North West Women’s Super League on Thursday with a 4-1 win over Greencastle United. Sweeney was the Bonagee heartbeat on an excellent night for the Dry Arch Park side.
The ever-dependable Sweeney played a big role in the win with a tireless display that showcased her talents.
