Poll results – Here’s who you want as the next Donegal manager

Almost 2,000 votes were tallied in our poll to see who the public would choose as the next Donegal senior football team manager.

Following the resignation last week of Rory Gallagher, after three years in the hotseat, we put the people to the polls.

A whopping 447 votes were in favour of the former Mayo manager James Horan – 23.09% of the total votes.

While Horan would have plenty of support from Donegal fans, Horan is not seen as a realistic option, due to his work commitments and location.

Declan Bonner, who is seen as the front-runner in the race, polled 334 votes, of 17.25% of the votes, while his 1991 team-mate Martin McHugh was next in line, with 248 votes.

It has emerged that former Monaghan and Meath manager Seamus McEnaney could be tempted into the race, while other names could yet throw hats into the ring.

Just last night, the Donegal County Board invited applications and nominations for the vacancy.
