Place to return as Finn Harps look to make it ten League games unbeaten

Mikey Place makes his return from suspension as Ollie Horgan and Finn Harps look to make it ten League games unbeaten this weekend.

With second spot, and a place in the play-off semi-final, already secured, Horgan is keen for his team to take momentum into that play-off joust.

Harps are unbeaten in League football since mid-June and will hope to stretch that sequence to the games tomorrow night when they host Cabinteely in Ballybofey.

“From our perspective this is a very important game as we need to have momentum going into the play-offs,” Horgan said.

“They have had wins over UCD, Shelbourne, Drogheda and Longford this season and probably will be disappointed not to be further up the table. Stephen McGuinness is a good keeper and then the likes Keith Dalton, Dan Casey and Kieran Marty Waters are lads that  have real quality.”

Harps secretary John Campbell put out an appeal for support earlier this week.

And Horgan hopes his men can put in another big 90 minutes.

He said: “After tomorrow night we don’t have a game for a fortnight so it’s important that the lads put in a really good shift against Cabinteely whom we only beat narrowly twice this season.

“Whoever we play in the play-offs will have had the benefit of two very competitive games so that is something we have to be very mindful of and be as ready as we can be for the advantage that it gives to them.”

Place returns to the squad after serving a one-match suspension but Mark Timlin continues to be troubled by a knee injury. Mark Coyle and Paddy McCourt are rated doubtful.
