A crowd of 3,520 braved the Ballyshannon chill this afternoon to cheer Donegal to a  landslide win over Kildare – and back to Division 1.

A 1-20 to 0-10 victory at Fr Tierney Park confirmed promotion for Donegal and sealed a place in next weekend’s Division 2 final against Meath.

Jamie Brennan hit the goal in a one-sided game bossed from start to finish by Donegal.

Evan Logan captured some of the happy Donegal faces …

  • James, Mary and Eamonn from Dungloe and Gaoth Dobhair before Sunday’s game.
  • Convoy meets Kildare! The McCarron and McDonald families before Sunday’s game.
  • Denis and the two Eileen’s from Dunfanaghy all set for the big game in Ballyshannon.
  • Supporters from Dungloe and Cloughaneely in good cheer before the game.
  • Joe Gildea and Mary O’Donnell from Ardara.
  • Angela, Ciaran, Patrick and Dara from the St. Naul’s club outside Fr Tierney Park.
  • The Na Rossa gang – Raymond, Aoibhinn, Johnny, Eoghan, Trevor and Naomh.
  • Some of the Ballyshannon supporters at Sunday’s game.
  • Donegal stars of the future – Jack, Dillon, Darragh, Aaron and Kenzie from Ballyshannon take a break from their kick around after the game.
