Payton led the way with 34 points as LYIT Donegal defeated Limerick Sports Eagles 94-92 in a cliffhanger at An Danlann.
During the week, Payton flew to America to surprise his girlfriend.
Payton, in a ram costume, joined Framingham State University players on court to surprise Emily Velozo – and what a time he picked!
Payton jetted in to see Velozo score 18 points (14 of them in the fourth quarter) to reach the 1,000 point milestone in college basketball.
Velozo helped Framington State to a 77-51 win over Fitchburg.
Payton has been in top form for LYIT Donegal this season in Division 1 and he was the game’s top marksman yesterday.
Dom Uhl weighed in with 24 and Charlie McKInney helped himself to 18 as LYIT Donegal squeezed home the win.
