PATRICK MCBREARTY’S seven-point haul helped Ulster University, Jordanstown to glory in the Ryan Cup last night.

The Kilcar man was on song, posting seven in all, five of them from frees, as Martin McHugh’s team recorded a 1-15 to 0-13 win over DCU at Inniskeen.

It was UUJ’s first Ryan Cup win since 2013.

Ethan Rafferty netted a goal in extra time to tip the scales in UUJ’s favour.

McHugh’s team – who will also have Ryan McHugh and Eoin McHugh on board for the Sigerson Cup campaign – forced extra time thanks to a late free by McBrearty.

At the end of normal time, it was 0-9 apiece.

Gaoth Dobhair’s Cian Mulligan (0-3) and Buncrana’s Caolan McGonigle (0-1) were on the mark for DCU.
