Pat McLaughlin expects tough affair against Peake Villa in FAI Junior Cup clash

Greencastle welcomes Co. Tipperary side Peake Villa to North Donegal tomorrow (1pm) in the FAI New Balance FAI Cup and Pat McLaughlin expects a tough encounter.

Peake Villa didn’t waste any opportunity in travelling to Donegal for the cup clash, arriving up on Saturday to ensure proper preparation before tomorrow’s fixture.

The Chapel Lane side reached the sixth round of competition following their 2-1 victory over Ringmahon Rangers in December.

Speaking to Donegal Sport Hub, McLaughlin expects a hard-fought encounter between two well-drilled opponents.

“It is going to be a tough game, they are a top outfit and we expect to face a good footballing side,” McLaughlin said.

“Myself and Kevin (McLaughlin) have enquired about Peake Villa all week so we know that they are a good football team and they are doing extremely well in their league.”

The Greencastle boss insisted that home advantage is a huge edge going into the contest, considering they’ve been on the road for several fixtures previously.

“Home advantage means a lot to us,” he added. “We’ve had to travel away previously and in the round of 32 we wanted a home draw and we’ve got it so it is up to the boys now to put in a good performance on the pitch.

“Everything has been going well off the pitch, so we are geared up for it and hopefully we can get a decent crowd and give them a good result.”
