PARISH priest Father Martin Collum was all smiles as he took the top prize in a glorious Captain’s Day at Otway Golf Club Rathmullan.

The divine weather inspired some great golf – and no doubt the winner of the men’s title Father Martin who was superb on the day. John Gallagher and Damian Gallagher finished second and third respectively.

Grainne Doherty was in top form to take the top spot in the ladies competition, followed by Catriona McClafferty in second and Marisa Harrison in third.

Nearest the Pin went to Michael Crossan and the Longest Drive prize was taken by Ben Folan.

Captain John McClafferty thanked everyone for taking part and congratulated all the prize winners in what was a memorable day at Ireland’s Most Beautiful 9-hole golf course.

“Otway continues to welcome both members and visitors and it was great to round off the summer with some great competitions on Captain’s Day,” he said.

“It was also wonderful to have a Captain’s Day this year. There was a real buzz at Otway all day on Sunday. I’d like to thank everyone who took part.

“Everyone at the club was delighted for Father Martin and we want to congratulate him, our ladies winner Grainne, and thank all our dedicated members who took part.”
