Paddy McCourt to miss large swathe of Finn Harps’ run-in

Paddy McCourt could miss the bulk of Finn Harps’ First Division run-in through injury.

The 34-year-old had to limp out of the 1-0 win over Drogheda United on Friday-week past after picking up a knee injury.

McCourt underwent a scan that has showed up an injury that will rule him out for ‘a few weeks’, Harps manager Ollie Horgan has said.

McCourt sat out Friday’s 3-0 win over Longford Town at Finn Park and seems set for a spell on the sidelines, with Horgan noting that the Derry native would be out ‘long term’.

“You don’t replace a player like Paddy,” Horgan sighed.

Harps have just seven League games left to play and are only five points away from leaders UCD.

McCourt will leave Harps at the end of this season to take up the job of Head of Youth Development at Derry City, but has been a real fans’ favourite at Finn Park, since signing at the start of the 2017 season.

Harps will assess Jesse Devers on Monday after the Mayo native was forced out of Friday’s game after only 13 minutes.

Horgan added: “It’s constant to have players out, but we have men stepping up to the plate.”
