OLLIE Horgan says Finn Harps should’t get ‘carried away’ with yesterday’s dramatic win over Waterford.
Harps twice came from behind, with late goals by Alexander Kogler and Adrian Delap flipping the tables for a first League win since the season’s opening night.
The 3-2 win lifts Harps above Cork at the foot of the standings on goal difference.
“We needed a result badly,” Horgan said.
“There is no point in saying that we were in good form – we weren’t. We didn’t play all that well and maybe the laps of the Gods went our way.
“We didn’t particularly go with a defensive approach in the first half. Waterford were the better side in the first half.
“They had the rub of the green with a deflected goal but they had two other chances to go two-nil up and that would have been curtains.
“We dug deep, but we needed to. Waterford will only get better.”
There are just nine games remaining in this truncated campaign with Harps taking a break from League action this weekend to face Bray Wanderers in the FAI Cup.
The Harps manager said: “We’ll move on and there’s no point in getting carried away, winning in Waterford. We need to accumulate enough points to get to the play-off and that’s our aim. We have a long way to go to get there.”
