Finn Harps manager Ollie Horgan has been shortlisted for the PFA First Division Manager of the Year award.

Horgan guided Harps to promotion this year after a superb finish to the season.

Harps were unbeaten in their last 14 League and play-off games, conceding just four goals in that spell.

Play-off wins over Drogheda United and Limerick have taken Harps back to the top flight and Horgan has been nominated for the First Division’s top gong. Horgan is nominated alongside UCD boss Collie O’Neil and Drogheda United’s Tim Clancy.

Finn Harps, in a statement, said the nomination was ‘very worthy recognition of what he has achieved with Finn Harps this season, culminating in our promotion back to the Premier Division.’

Harps said: “That success could only be done by an enormous amount of hard work, a lot of it done quietly behind the scenes.

“ Putting a squad together capable of being competitive was a painstaking exercise but it has produced a massive reward for the club as we now look forward to football back in the top flight next season. O

“llie had a really good backroom team that helped him mould a team that did brilliantly especially in the second half of the season and peaked perfectly for the play-offs and of course that never to be forgotten 2-0 win against Limerick FC at the Markets Field that clinched promotion for Harps.

“Everyone associated with Finn Harps congratulates Ollie on his nomination and wish him well for Saturday night’s PFA Awards function in Dublin.”
