A dramatic point from the excellent Conor O’Donnell sealed a super Danske Bank MacLarnon Cup win for Colaistí Inis Eoghain against Cathair Dhoire.

by Charlie Collins at Celtic Park

O’Donnell, just after Jude Óg Moore netted his second goal of the night, riffled over from way out on the left-hand side of Celtic Park to seal an excellent win and maintain an unbeaten start to the MacLarnon campaign for the peninsula men.

O’Donnell hit six points for Aiden Mulholland’s side in a fine display as they handed Cathair Dhoire a first defeat in three games.

Moore’s pair of goals in the second half gave Cathair Dhoire a big chance and they drew level when Moore struck the bottom corner, only for O’Donnell to deny them.

Colaistí Inis Eoghain began superbly with Donal Doherty, Johnny Toye and Josh Conlan firing over points inside the opening five minutes.

And they got the opening goal in the 10th minute when Conlan fisted home from a long Toye free into the mixer.

Cathair Dhoire hit back and got a goal of their own when Ben McCarron drilled home.

But the Inishowen men hit the game’s next five points, with O’Donnell starting the purple patch with a brilliant 40-metre point.

O’Donnell was to the fore in that period and landed another majestic point on 27 minutes.

When Toye converted a free from 35 metres, the Inishowen side were six up.

They led by four at the break, but Cathair Dhoire struck again two minutes into the new half as half-time sub Jude Óg Moore finished well.

Luke Doherty, Conlan and O’Donnell pushed Colaistí Inis Eoghain five up again with eight minutes to go.

Moore made them think again, only for O’Donnell to come up with the goods.
