Nugent nets super equaliser as Swilly earn draw on emotional night

On an emotional night at Swilly Park, Jordan Nugent netted a cracking equaliser on the hour mark to earn Swilly Rovers a draw with Bonagee United.

Prior to the game, a minute’s silence was observed prior to kick-off in memory of Calum Nugent, Jordan’s brother, who died recently.

Bonagee went ahead on four minutes with a quickly taken free kick by Michael Funston from 25 yards.

Paddy Quigley in the Bonagee goal denied Finnian O’Donnell with a fine save on 14 minutes.

Swilly were level on 18 minutes when a superb Jordan Nugent cross from the right was headed home in some style by the inrushing Brad Patterson.

On 23 minutes Quigely denied Nugent with a fine save. Swilly lost Ciaran McHugh on 32 minutes to injury and was replaced by Michael Murray.

Jamie Blaney in the Swilly goal denied Aaron Wasson with a super save on 43 minutes.

Bonagee went in front again on the stroke of half time when Matty Harkin drilled home a shot from 15 yards.

Jordan Nugent on 61 minutes fired home a superb  free kick to level matters. Cody Brogan with a fine effort and Jamie Lynagh from Bonagee both went close near the end but the Swilly defence stood firm.
