INISHOWEN rivals Naomh Padraig Muff and Moville couldn’t be separated in an entertaining All-County Football League Division 4 clash on Saturday in Ture.

Naomh Padraig Muff 1-9 Moville 1-9

With both teams missing key players, they each gave their all until the very last kick of the game. It was the home side who started the stronger with Greg Breslin knocking over for a point with only a minute on the clock. Moville replied immediately with Nigel McMonagle after good play from Enda Faulkner.

The home side then began to dominate the middle of the field with Colm McColgan controlling the game from midfield  and the same player played a long high ball in which wasn’t dealt with by the Moville defence only for Breslin to pounce to raise the green flag.

The same player then got the next two scores from frees along with a well-taken Oisin McColgan score to put the hosts six up, 1-4 to 0-1. Muff then lost team captain Colm McColgan to a shoulder injury and Moville then got a lifeline out of nowhere when a high ball in was flicked on by John McGeady for a goal and give the visitors a much needed lift and points from Nigel McMonagle and Josh Lafferty left the half-time score all square at 1-4 to 1-4.

The second half started the same as the first with the home side in control and a Eunan Keaveny point of the back of some good play from Ryan McColgan edged the home side in front. A 45 from Greg Breslin and two great scores from Brian McColgan left the home in charge. But to Moville’s credit they dug deep and battled back and a Hegarty score inspired them to take control of the game.

But with the home side being wasteful in front of the posts it further played Into the visitors hands and some determined play and good point taking from McMonagle the visitors will feel happy to leave Ture with a point.
