Tennis players from as far as Castlebar, Sligo, Coleraine, Omagh and Enniskillen descended on Letterkenny Tennis Club last week for the annual North West Tennis Championships.

There were over 80 entries playing in a variety of grades and events. Despite the changeable weather play went on each day and all players coped very well.

At the end of the week Mark Smith from Omagh Tennis Club was Crowned Mens Singles Champion after a great final against reigning champion Francis Vension from Butthall Tennis Club.

Francis got over the disappointment by pairing with Elaine Chambers from Butthall Tennis Club to win the Mixed Doubles. The Mens Doubles was won by James Burnside From Coleraine Tennis Club and the evergreen David Craig from Limavady Tennis Club.

The Ladies Doubles was won by Elaine Chambers and Donna McSorley from Omagh Tennis Club. Congratulations to all the players who braved the unseasonal weather and special thanks to the Club Sponsors and organisers Rebecca and Liz Birney, Carmel McGinley and Annmarie McGeehin for all their hard work.
