No place in squad for Ciara Grant as Ireland senior women’s team lose to Finland

Sue Ronan’s Republic of Ireland Senior Women’s fell to a 2-0 defeat against Finland in their opening Uefa Euro 2017 qualifier in Tallaght Stadium on Monday night.

A superb crowd of 2,905 turned out to see the girls in green, but they were ultimately undone by goals from Emma Koivisto and Linda Sallstrom in the Group 2 clash.

Letterkenny native and UCD Waves midfielder Ciara Grant (pictured above) wasn’t in the matchday squad.

Despite the result, Ronan will be able to pick out plenty of positives from her team’s performance as they switch their focus to next month’s trip to Portugal before playing host to Spain in November.
