WITH THE calendar about to turn into 2017, a host of Donegal GAA clubs have confirmed new managerial appointments for the next campaign.

County champions Glenswilly were early to appoint with Adrian Glackin taking the baton from Michael Canning at Pairc Naomh Columba.

A number of clubs will be under the same management next year as Martin McHugh (Kilcar), Gary Conaghan (Killybegs), Kevin Gallagher (Four Masters), Sean Timoney (Naomh Bríd) and Terence Colhoun (Malin) have been reinstated again for 2017.

Tony Boyle has stepped down as the Dungloe manager and has been replaced by Paddy McGowan for 2017, while Liam Breen has succeeded Liam Ward as manager of Glenfin, who have been relegated to the Intermediate Championship.

Paddy J McGinley has taken over from Brendan Doherty at Naomh Columba while Adrian Brennan is back in charge of Ardara, who were demoted to Division 2 of the All-County League.

Brennan will be assisted by Donie McCole, who was boss at St Naul’s for the last two years.

Francie Martin is back in management again with the Glenfin native recently appointed to the Bundoran post.

Martin previously managed Glenswilly, Glenfin and Naomh Colmcille and will now be at the helm in Bundoran next year.

Naomh Muire are also under a new boss for 2017. John Pidgeon and Owenie McGarvey have been installed following the departure of Eamon O’Boyle.

The likes of Sean MacCumhaills, Gaoth Dobhair, St Michael’s, St Eunan’s, Downings and Termon are among those who have yet to confirm their management teams for the new season.

Division 3 new boys Red Hughs are another on the hunt for a new manager with Seosamh Mac Ceallabhuí having been recently appointed joint manager of Truagh Gaels in Monaghan alongside former Naomh Conaill manager Cathal Corey.
