The 2019 Donegal Women’s League season gets underway next week.

There are games at Under-12, Under-14 and Under-16 levels on a busy opening week.

This year, Under-12 games take place on Monday nights, Under-14s are played on Friday nights with Under-16 games moving to Tuesdays.

In all, there are 13 games across the three nights next week in an outline of the strength of women’s football in Donegal.

2018 was a record year for games played under the banner of the Donegal Women’s League, with a large rise in participation, as demonstrated by the 600-plus in attendance at the annual awards function.

The Under-8 fixtures will commence on April 13 at 11am. Bonagee United will host Finn Valley and Milford, with Mulroy Academy hosting Lagan Harps.

The Under-10 fixtures will also start on April 13 at 11am. Bonagee United will host Finn Valley, Milford, Gweedore United and Raphoe Town. On the same day, Mulroy Academy will host Lagan Harps, Ballyraine, Illistrin and Kilmacrennan.

At committee level, there have been some changes with Tena Quigley (Finn Valley) replacing Dessie Kelly as the Donegal Women’s League Chairperson, while Brid McGinty returns as secretary, replacing Johnny Baird, who has stepped down from the executive.

The 2019 Donegal Women’s League committee is: Chairperson Tena Quigley; Vice Chairperson Paddy McDaid; Secretary Brid McGinty; Assistant Secretary/Discipline Terry Leyden; Treasurers Dessie Kelly & Paula Irwin; Registrar Paula Irwin; PRO Chris McNulty.

Clubs are reminded of their obligations to text results and scorers to Chris McNulty at 087-9499073 and to submit reports to chrismcnulty86@gmail.com Clubs will be fined for a failure to submit results or reports to the PRO.
