Murphy is Player of the Year as eight Donegal players get Ulster All-Stars

MICHAEL MURPHY was last night named as the 2019 Irish News Player of the Year with EIGHT Donegal Players selected as Irish News All-Stars.

Donegal captain Murphy was honoured with the Player of the Year award after another imperious summer.

Murphy led the way as Donegal retained their Ulster crown this year.

The Glenswilly man was selected at midfield on the team, alongside Jarlath Og Burns of Armagh.

Goalkeeper Shaun Patton was included following a stellar year in the Tir Chonaill number one shirt, while Stephen McMenamin’s fine campaign was recognised with a corner-back slot.

Paddy McGrath, Ryan Hugh and Eoghan Ban Gallagher were named in defensive positions with Jamie Brennan and Patrick McBrearty chosen in the attack.

Tyrone legend Peter Canavan was honoured as the Irish News All-Star of the last 25 years.
