MILFORD WILL PLAY in the All-County Football League Division 2 next season for the first time in 23 years.

Letterkenny Gaels 1-3 CLG Baile na nGalloglach 1-7

Baile na nGalloglach were crowned Division 3 champions today after they recorded a four-point victory over Letterkenny Gaels at Pairc na nGael.

The visitors started brightly and were two points up within the first five minutes thanks to the accurate free taking of Cathal Mc Gettigan but their slender lead was overtaken when Gaels talisman Conor McBrearty was taken down in the square and he duly converted the awarded penalty.

The teams drew level a minute later when TJ Evesson split the posts with a great point from play.

The next two points went to the Glebe men when Cormac Cannon scored a fine point on the run while Conor McBrearty scored a free leaving the hosts two points up.

The second goal of the game came a minute later when Darragh Black got the better of two Gaels defenders and rattled the back of net.

Both teams traded a point each in the dying minutes of the first half when Enda Mc Hugh for the visitors and Conor Mc Brearty for Letterkenny Gaels scored a point apiece leaving the halftime score: Letterkenny Gaels 1-3
Milford 1-4

The second half started exactly as the first half when Cathal Mc Gettigan stepped up again and scored the first two points from frees but there was to be no response from the hosts this time.

The Glebe men were guilty of wayward shooting and dropped a few short balls all of which were dealt with by the Milford keeper.

Darragh McHugh’s point 12 minutes into the second half was the last score of the game and from then on it was end to end attacking from the Gaels and defending from Milford but the hosts failed to score.

In the end Milford won the match on a scoreline of 1-3 to 1-7 and with this result are Division 3 champions.
