MILFORD MAINTAINED THEIR solid start to life in the AllSportStore.com All-County Football League Division 2 with an away win at understrength Malin.

Malin 1-7 Milford 0-12

Milford took the lead through two Gary Merritt points before Dan McDaid replied with a free for Malin. The visitors then came back with two great scores from the right, first from Pauric Curley and then from Darragh Black.

They added another when Pauric Curley won a kick out and ran through before fisting over. Dan McDaid replied with another free. Gary Merritt freed from the ground shortly after when Pauric Curley was fouled.

Declan Walsh then started and finished off a great Malin move down the left, cutting in and shooting over with his right. Dan McDaid finished off what was a poor half of football with a sideline ball which bounced on the edge of the square before going over the bar to leave the half time score Malin 0-4 Milford 0-6.

McDaid opened the scoring for Malin, who now had a target man with Anthony Kelly at the edge of the square to feed. Christopher Barrett responded with a run down the Milford right and placing a good effort over the bar from a tight angle, David Curley added to this effort when he curled in from out on the left.

Dan McDaid slotted over a free after Danny McCarron had done well to win under pressure. Milford stretched the lead out to three with a long range Merritt free from the ground.

An Anthony Kelly free saw Malin coming within two before they went ahead after Dan McDaid managed to blast in from the ground after a scramble around the edge of the 13’. Milford levelled with a free from Merritt and two more frees, all off the ground from the impressive Merritt saw Milford leave Connolly Park with the victory.
