Mickey McCann to meet Co Board over future as hurling boss

MICKEY MCCANN says he will meet with the Donegal County Board in the coming weeks as he mulls over extending his tenure as Donegal senior hurling manager.

The Burt man has completed his second year in charge and has the option of a fourth.

Donegal were relegated from the Christy Ring Cup after a play-off loss to London, having also dropped from Division 2B, following a highly encouraging 2018 campaign.

“We were very competitive, but we just couldn’t get over the line in games against Wicklow and Derry this year,” McCann said.

“We have a lot of young players in the panel at the moment and Donegal hurling is competitive.

“You have maybe six teams in there now with the likes of Buncrana, Aodh Ruadh and Carn. If you got a couple of players from each team, it would be great.

“I’ll sit down with Mick (McGrath, County Chairman) and the Board in the next week or two to decide if we’ll go on.”
