MICHAEL ‘OWEN’ MCLAUGLIN will return to the ring on October 30th at the Melrose Memorial Hall in Maasachusetts.

The 31-year-old Carndonagh southpaw is 11-1-1 from his 13 professional fights to date.

McLaughlin had hoped ot be in action on October 10, but the super-welterweight’s contest has been changed.

McLaughlin also fought on October 30 last year when he defeated Paulo DeSouza on the night Jason Quigley overcame Greg McCoy in Boston.

It was McLaughlin’s second win over DeSouza in 2014, stopping him in round two after doing likewise at the Royale Nightclub last March.

Since his win over DeSouza last October, McLaughlin – who has linked up with Murphy’s Boxing – has won both his next fights.

In February, he overcame Rafael Francis at the Melrose Memorial Hall and in June he was got the 40-36, 40-36, 40-36 nods from the judges against Robert Valenzuela – a Mexican with 56 knockout wins to his name – in the Marian Bay SportsPlex.

McLaughlin debuted at the Aura Leisure Centre in Letterkenny in October 2010 – on the night Paul McCloskey successfully defended his European light-welterweight title against Barry Morrison – when a contest with Valentin Stoychev was ruled a draw.

Last year, McLaughlin had hoped to fight for a New England welterweight title as well as an Irish belt, but neither materialised.
