MARK MCCOLE AND MICHAEL GALLAGHER have quarter-finals in their respective divisions at the National Intermediate Championships this weekend.
Dungloe’s light-middleweight Cole takes on Lee Reeves from Southside BC in a quarter-final this evening while Finn Valley’s ten-time Irish champion Gallagher (pictured above) meets James Hughes of Ryson in a heavyweight quarter-final tomorrow morning.
Last weekend, McCole – an Irish Colleges champion in 2014 – recorded an impressive win over Eddie Lawrence, while Gallagher stopped Cian O’Shaunnessy in the second round of their bout.
Finn Valley’s golden girl, Austeja Auciute, is already assured of a place in the final and is in search of her tenth national title while Carrigart’s Maeve McCarron is also through to the final.
