McBrearty returns from break in USA and trains with Donegal ahead of Meath

Donegal welcomed Patrick McBrearty back to training tonight after the corner-forward spent the best part of the last three months in the United States on holiday.

McBrearty missed Donegal’s opening fixture of their Allianz Football League Division 1 campaign on Saturday as an injury-time James Durcan goal grabbed a 2-13 to 0-19 draw for Mayo in Ballybofey.

Donegal are down to play Meath this coming Sunday in Navan in the second series of fixtures. Donegal manager Declan Bonners met with the 26-year-old yesterday and all seemed well.

“Patrick is back yes,” Bonner said this afternoon. “Will he play on Sunday? … you just never know! We’ll see where he’s at now as he’s been away for 10 weeks. He’s keen to get back into it and it’s good to have him back.”
