McBrearty named in Donegal side for Ulster final, but Gallen absent

PATRICK McBrearty has been named in the Donegal XV for tomorrow’s Ulster SFC final, but there are a couple of notable absentees on the match day squad.

As expected, Stephen McMenamin misses out due to the injury that forced his withdrawal in the opening minutes of last Saturday’s semi-final win over Armagh.

McMenamin has not been deemed fit enough to take his place in the 26-man squad.

McBrearty is included at corner forward. The Kilcar man appeared as a substitute last week for his first Championship appearance of 2020.

There is no place on the squad for Oisin Gallen, however. The Sean Mac Cumhaills forward had posted impressive cameos off the bench in the wins over Tyrone and Armagh.

2012 All-Ireland winner Paddy McGrath is named among the Donegal substitutes.

The teams as listed in the match programme are subject to change.

Donegal: Shaun Patton; Eoghan Ban Gallagher, Neil McGee, Eoin McHugh; Ryan McHugh, Paul Brennan, Peadar Mogan; Hugh McFadden, Caolan McGonagle; Ciarán Thompson, Niall O’Donnell, Michael Langan; Patrick McBrearty, Michael Murphy, Jamie Brennan. Subs: Michael Lynch, Jeaic Mac Ceallabhuí, Eoghan McGettigan, Jason McGee, Andrew McClean, Daire Ó Baoill, Caolan Ward, Brendan McCole, Eamonn Doherty, Conor O’Donnell, Paddy McGrath

Cavan: Raymond Galligan; Jason McLoughlin, Padraig Faulkner, Luke Fortune; Gerard Smith, Killian Clarke, Ciaran Brady; Thomas Galligan, Killian Brady; Martin Reilly, Gearoid McKiernan, Oisin Kiernan; Oisin Pierson, Chris Conroy, Conor Madden. Subs: Liam Brady, Niall Murray, Paul Graham, Liam Buchanan, Thomas Edward Donohue, Stephen Smith, Oisin Brady, Cormac O’Reilly, James Smith, Cormac Timoney, Conor Smith.
