‘A Match for Fenny’ – 2012 All-Ireland winners to feature in memorial match in Downings

Donegal’s 2012 All-Ireland winning team will face Declan Bonner’s current Donegal squad in a fundraising match on Thursday in a tribute to the late Paddy McBride.

The game takes place in Downings, the beloved club of the late Paddy ‘Fenny’, who sadly lost his short battle with illness last week.

Paddy was the heart and soul of his beloved CLG Na Dunaibh, whom he served with distinction as a player and administrator, filling nearly all roles on the field and off it during the course of his time involved in the club.

Just a few months ago, he was diagnosed with malignant melanoma and fought his illness with bravery until he succumbed last week. He would have been due to celebrate his 60th birthday on St Stephen’s Day.

‘A Match for Fenny’, which had been planned over several weeks, will go ahead and serve as a fitting memorial to the Downings stalwart.

Downings’ Maxi Curran will take charge of the 2012 squad with Bonner on the opposite side.

The game throws-in at 2pm.
