Martin Harley takes superb 83/1 Lingfield double

MARTIN Harley returned to winning ways with an 83/1 double today.

At Lingfield, Harley had narrow wins aboard 6/1 shot Thegrevytrain and 11/1 chance Apollo One.

In the Heed Your Hunch At Betway Handicap, Harley and Thegrevytrain got ahead of Shining (13/2) by a nose on the line.

Harley managed to hold on in spite of a strong challenge over the five furlongs.

The Trentagh man followed up with another slender triumph, this time getting Apollo One home by a short head in front of Megallan.

In a thrilling finale to the Get Your Ladbrokes Daily Odds Boost Spring Cup, Harley and Apollo One prevailed, guaranteeing the Peter Charalambous-trained three-year-old a place in the Ladbrokes All-Weather Three-Year-Old Championship at Lingfield on April 2.

“Full credit to the horse because he was in front a long way out,” Harley said.

“I was bit a worried that it was going to be a very bad ride, but fortunately it paid off.

“He is a really good horse. Maybe there could be bigger and better things for him later in the year.”

It was a first race in 156 days for Apollo One, returning to action following a lay-off since being ridden by Harley to victory at Salisbury in October.
