Malin 1-11 Naomh Columba 0-05

The visitors opened the scoring when Paddy Byrne powered through and shot from just inside the 45’.

Malin responded immediately when a good move up the right saw Paul McLaughlin cut in from the by-line to fist over.

Matthew Byrne edged Malin ahead midway through the half with a lovely left footed effort from the ‘D’.

Christopher McLaughlin got another for the home side leaning back splitting the posts from outside the 45’.

Matthew Byrne hit a close in free after Stephen McLaughlin was brought down after a great break from Declan Walsh. Matthew Byrne then hit a peach of a score from the outside of the boot from out on the left.

Paul McLaughlin hit a great long range free from outside the 45’ out on the sideline after Kieran McColgan was brought down.

Paddy Byrne responded with a free from the ground and the same player brought a great save shortly after from Darragh McLaughlin, getting down low to deny him.

Byrne hit a second free after Philil McNern was fouled. Brendan McLaughlin made an immediate impact of the bench when he finished off a great break up the field seen Damien Harkin, above all people – up from fullback, feed him the ball and he was on hand to finish into the net with aplomb.

He added a point shortly after after good work up the right to extend the lead. Matthew Byrne also got joy up the right when he did well in the corner to fire over another score. Paddy Byrne and Ryan Gillespie replied with two frees for the Glen men but Malin had the final say when subs Dan McDaid and Joseph Doherty combined to see Doherty Fire over.
